Oxfam 100K Trailwalker – Detailed Metrics

So … I have finally downloaded and cleaned up the metrics from our 100K madness. As always, take note that all heart rate (bpm) and energy (kcal) related metrics are based on my (Reza’s) biometrics.

PROFILE 1: Start – CP4

PROFILE 2: CP4 – CP7

PROFILE 1: CP7 – Finish

    max speed 29.5 km/h? was that a sneaky little bus-trip when I wasn’t looking?

P.S. Is the falling max heart rate indicative of improving fitness as you go ?

  • That’s a good question. These results are for Reza so I’m not able to speak for him, but for me, I recall that later on in the course, the “shock” of the ascents was starting to wear off – even though they were just as rugged. Especially CP7 onwards which were as insane as any climb I’ve ever done. Maybe going from desk-job to peak-climbing is more shocking ( ie, CP 1 and CP 2 ) than oh-look-another-peak ( in the later stages ). I’m not sure if the body can adapt that quickly, so maybe it is psychological rather than physical adaptation ? Or maybe we were just exhausted and the heart’s max possible rate simply got lower…
